A Manifesto of Sorts

I have very strong feelings about the arts in the Church. I want to see great art come out of our local churches and the Church as a whole.

So, I wrote my ideas down in a “manifesto” of sorts. The things I see that we, as Church artists, should be thinking about. What we should strive for. They are now on the Church Art Manifesto page.

Please stop by and read it, comment on it. Add your thoughts. Or comment here with resources or comments relating to Church art. I’d love to have a place where artists could come to find some resources.

Long Time, No Post

For my readers, I’ve been very slack on my posting recently. It’s been 2 months since I posted last. That’s too long.

In any case, I think my blogging hiatus was a little needed for me, if a little abrupt. I’ve been working at a new job, coding new themes on the side, and playing like crazy at my church’s Sunday night service. No excuses, but I’ve felt very busy.

As a New Year’s resolution, I guess, I’m going to try and post at least once a week. Also, I’ll probably be doing a redesign on this blog. I’ve been learning a ton about web design and development and I feel like it’s time for a new look. If you’ve got some things you like or hate about this look, leave a comment; I’m always looking for a little feedback.

New WordPress Page: Got Themes?

Lately, I’ve been coding some WordPress themes and code. So, I thought I’d showcase my efforts here on my site. Check out my new WordPress page to see what I’ve been up to.

There will be some items to download for your own use. Not all of them will be free, but some will. I’ve spent a lot of time on these, and I hope you might find them useful. If you like what you see and want something custom done or a tweak to something up there, let me know on the page.

Anything you guys would like to see for WordPress? I’m always looking for ideas.

My Blog Has New Home and Theme!

Joshua Wagner Online now has a new home. The blog is now being hosted on DreamHost and is powered by WordPress. I’ve been working on the new theme for about three weeks now, and I think it works pretty well. I’ll be adding to it here and there for probably a few weeks.

I’ve called the theme SlateBlue (for obvious reasons). I’m considering releasing the theme in some form, but I’m not sure yet. Any suggestions are welcome as well.

New Layout, New Comments, New Feed

If you’ve been following my tweets for the past few days, you may have noticed a few about changing up my blog’s layout. Well, I think I’m done tweaking for now. I’ve done some layout changes, and I think it looks good. I’ve also set up a FeedBurner account to broadcast RSS feeds and to add an email subscription for my blog. (I don’t think you’ll need to resubscribe if you already are, but it might help in the long run if you do.) And finally, I’ve installed IntenseDebate for comments on the blog. The look is still quite simple, and I like it like that. Still, I may be adding some graphics here and there to add some color.

First Things First

Hello all. Just decided, it being the new year and all, that it was time for me to start myself a blog. I wanted to have a place to say a few things that I thought might be important or interesting. I’m a musician at heart, and maybe a writer too. So, I’ll be trying to update as regularly as my time allows. Hope to see you soon.
