I am a web developer based in Raleigh, North Carolina. I built my very first HTML website 20 years ago using AOLpress. Everything I’ve learned about building websites, I’ve learned hands-on by building websites.

I went to college at UNC Asheville and received a B.S. in Music Technology. I was not specifically building a career in web development at that time. However, since I was interested in technology and the web was fast becoming a part of everyday life, I was learning how to build websites in my spare time. One for my (shortlived) band, another helping out with my brother, one for a class project, and so on.

Once I left college and started my career, I found that I really did enjoy learning web technologies. I learned HTML in the beginning, then CSS to customize my sites. I encountered WordPress and found I could do many more things, so I learned how in PHP and Javascript. All the while, I was building up both a knowledge base within web technology, but more importantly I was learning how to learn those things.

All of a sudden, I realized I could make a living doing these things, if only I learned a bit more. So I did.

My professional career in web development started in 2013 and I haven’t looked back. Now I’m comfortable in both WordPress and Drupal, in addition to HTML/CSS/JavaScript. I enjoy learning more powerful tools (like Angular, Ionic, Gulp, etc) to help my workflow. I hope to continue to grow and learn as a web developer for as long as I can.

I want to build the web.
