Going about my usual blog reading, I was reading this post (which linked to this Mashable post). Great thoughts. I’d like to add a few.
Video games are the movies of the next generation. Games can suck you into their worlds so easily, it’s not even funny. I remember playing Star Wars:Knights of the Old Republic for days and days, totally immersed in the story. I think that game might be one of the reasons I like writing stories so much.
But as much of a bad rap as these games get, they do teach us something. They keep our minds active (and now with the Wii, the rest of us too!), they make you solve problems, they make you work with others. These are all very important in the working world. Use this to your advantage.
As an aside, I know there are games out there that are over the top. All things in moderation.
What have games taught you?

Here in the Philippines, we have traditional games like “Tumbang Preso” and “Luksong Tinik”. I'm sure you don't understand what they meant but they're games (not computer games). I'd agree games can teach us a lot of things. That's why it's really recommended for parents to send their kids to play. It makes them smarter and decisive (whether to kill or not to kill, LOL!) But let's accept it on the other hand it teaches wrong things as well. sometimes subconciously. Let's just be mindful at all times. God Bless!
As with all things, there are good and bad sides. Some games do seem to teach bad lessons. And you are right, we should pay attention to what those lessons are. Thanks for the thoughts.
I loved KOTOR. it was splendid.
and Halo 2, Battlefront, Age of Empires 2, etc. I honestly don't know what i learned. I did learn that Social gaming is healthy, but playing alone can suck your life away. Kind of like drinking, at least that's what I'm told.
Yeah, that “give me all your time” thing isn't so good. I'm really prone to super-focus on one thing.
Halo is really good at hand-eye coordination though!
haha after playing Halo for 3 hours I successfully performed emergency heart surgery . Haha unfortunately no.
